Who is responsible for your information?
Firm Data Licensing ("we") is responsible for personal information collected through firmdatalicensing.ca. Our Privacy Officer (the person in charge of the protection of personal information) can be reached through our contact form; choose "Privacy request".
What information do we collect?
- Estimator answers: industry, headcount band, years of records, systems, province, record language and ownership answers.
- Contact details you choose to give: name, work email, company, role, phone (optional) and any message.
- Consent records: whether you ticked each consent box, the exact wording shown, the page, and a timestamp.
- Technical data: standard server logs kept by our host. We use no advertising trackers or analytics.
Why do we use it?
- To respond to your inquiry and prepare your indicative range (no extra consent needed beyond submitting the form).
- Only if you ticked the sharing box: to share your inquiry with data-licensing partners so they can prepare an offer (see below).
- Only if you ticked the email box: to email you about data-licensing opportunities.
We don't sell your personal information.
Do we share your inquiry with partners?
Only with your consent, given by ticking the separate sharing box.
- Who: our data-licensing partners: data brokers and licensing agents, and AI developers or data companies that run data-acquisition programs.
- What: your contact details, firm name and role, your estimator answers and your message. We never ask for, and never share, client files.
- Why: so the partner can assess fit, prepare an offer and contact you about it. Partners may pay Firm Data Licensing a fee in connection with an introduction.
- Where: partners may be located outside Canada, including in the United States, where your information is subject to local law and may be accessible to authorities there.
- Their use: each partner handles the information under its own privacy policy. We share only with partners that have agreed to use it to assess and respond to your inquiry.
- If you don't consent: we don't share. We still reply to your inquiry.
- Withdrawing: use the contact form ("Withdraw consent"). We stop any further sharing and, on request, tell you which partners received your details so you can contact them.
Who else processes it for us?
Our hosting and form provider (Netlify) and our email service provider, which may store data outside Canada, including in the United States.
How long do we keep it?
[TODO: retention period]. Consent records are kept for as long as we rely on the consent, plus a reasonable period to show compliance.
What choices do you have?
You can withdraw email consent at any time through the unsubscribe link in any email, or through our contact form. We process requests within 10 business days. You can withdraw sharing consent the same way, and you can ask to access or correct your information, or ask us to delete it.
What rights do Quebec residents have?
You may ask about the information we hold and how it's used, request correction or deletion, and withdraw consent. Before communicating personal information outside Quebec, we assess whether it will be adequately protected. Contact our Privacy Officer through the contact form.
How do I make a complaint?
Contact our Privacy Officer first through the contact form. You can also complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada or your provincial commissioner.
